The
Community Services Program consists of two types of classes – Community
Service and Self-Supporting (Personal Interest).
The
Community Service classes are offered primarily at the senior centers in the
four-county area we serve. Citizens 65 and over do not have
to pay a registration fee to take a Community Service class.
Community Service classes we offer
include
Basketry, Crafts, Ceramics, Fitness & Nutrition, Oil Painting, Introduction to Computers,
painting on glass and seasonal classes.
The
Community Service classes are provided through a block grant funded by the
state. This block grant funding is also used to present civic and cultural
activities in the four-county area we serve that are open to the public at
no charge for admission.
There
are no exemptions for Self-Supporting (Personal Interest) classes. The fees
for these classes vary and are based on course length, administrative and
instructional costs, and any required materials.
Listed below are some of
the Personal Interest classes we offer:
Art classes (oil, watercolor, etc.)
Cake decorating
Quilting
Floral Design
Beginning & Advanced Pottery
Sewing for Fun & Profit
How to Write Novel
Outboard Motor Repair

Various Seasonal Classes
In the summer, we have a

program for students in grades 1 – 8.
We are
always looking for new and interesting classes and instructors. We welcome
your “fresh” ideas!
