Emergency Medical Services
Classes are offered for State
Credentialing at the following levels:
- Medical Responder
- Emergency Medical
Technician
- Emergency Medical
Technician - Intermediate
The above classes prepare
the individual to take the North Carolina State EMT exam at the appropriate
level. This credential is required to be renewed every four (4) years.
During the four-year period, you are required to complete Continuing
Education classes and a Scope of Practice. Upon completion of the required
classes, hours, and the Scope of Practice your credentials are renewed
through the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services.
Listed below are the
levels of Continuing Education classes offered. Continuing Education classes
are offered at twelve (12) locations throughout our service area at
EMS/Rescue Squads and on campus. There are over seven hundred (700) hours of
Continuing Education classes offered each year.
- Medical Responder

Technician Continuing Education
- Emergency Medical
Technician - Intermediate Continuing Education
- Emergency Medical
Technician - Paramedic Continuing Education
- Emergency Vehicle
Driver
To enroll in
an initial EMT class, you
must have your High School diploma or GED.
Members of
fire
department, rescue/EMS squad,
or Law Enforcement you are tuition exempt.
EMS credentials qualifies you to work for EMS/rescue squads, EMS transport
services, and hospitals.
