Nurse Aide I

A 160 hour course prepares the student to provide personal care and basic nursing skills. Course content includes but is not limited to: role of the nurse aide, infection control, communication, and resident’s rights. Upon satisfactory completion of course, student is eligible to apply for North Carolina State Certification Examination. Successful completion of state exam is required to be listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I
Registry.
Prerequisite: Career Readiness Certificate of a silver or higher
Costs: Total registration-$194.25 ($180-registration fee, $13-malpractice insurance fee, $1.25-accident insurance fee)

Requirements:
• Uniform: white scrub top and navy blue pants to be worn daily while in lab and clinical. (scrub top and white mid-length lab coat embroidered with BCCC in royal blue) white closed toe/heel shoes
• SS Card and current valid driver license/government form of ID with photo

Nurse Aide II

A 186-hour certificate course that provides classroom, lab and clinical instruction. NA II course prepares the student to perform complex nursing skills for patients or residents. Satisfactory completion of the course and the final written/skill competency evaluation allows the student to apply for listing as a Nurse Aide II with the North Carolina Board of Nursing-Nurse Aide I Registry.
Prerequisite: Copy of current NAI license and copy of H.S. diploma or high school equivalency.

BLS CPR/First Aid for Health Care Providers

Keep your professional credentials up-to-date. This 4 hour certification course is designed for individuals who need new or to renew their BLS CPR certification. Additional costs: CPR card $5.00 due at time of registration. Course textbook available at BCCC bookstore at $15.75.

Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid

Heartsaver CPR/AED/First Aid course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in first aid, CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory or other requirements. Students learn skills such as how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock, and other first aid emergencies. This course also teaches adult, child, and infant CPR and AED use. These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Prior to class, students must obtain the Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED book available in the BCCC bookstore. Participants will need to dress comfortably, as you may be down on the floor working with CPR manikins.

Basic Activity Director

State and Federal regulations require an Activity Director working in an assisted living or skilled nursing facility to complete a state approved Activity Training course. Individuals completing this course will receive a certificate of completion and can use this course as a step toward national certification for Activity Directors. The last class meetings are a 25-hour practicum requirement that will be completed in a skilled nursing facility.
