Password Help

Usernames consist of first name followed by middle initial (if any) then the last 4 digits of the employee/student ID, omitting any spaces or punctuation (e.g. FirstnameM4567 - upper/lower case does not matter). Employee/student IDs are printed on pay stubs, acceptance letters, registration receipts, etc. If you have difficulty, try dropping the middle initial or using other possible middle initials.

If you already know your password, use it. Otherwise...

Passwords for applicants, students and student-employees (e.g. student tutors, work-study students, youth program workers) are set to the last 6 digits of their Social Security Number (SSN) and cannot be changed. For example, a student user having an SSN of 123-45-6789 would have a password of 456789.

Passwords for employees are set to a default password when their accounts are created and possibly when receiving support from BCCC IT staff thereafter. These default passwords consist of the first three letters of the birth month (only first letter capitalized) followed by a number calculated by adding the birth year to the three parts of the SSN (treated as three separate numbers) followed by an exclamation point (!). Employees are expected to change these default passwords immediately. Employee passwords must be changed at least once every 90 days, must not match any of the 6 previous passwords used, must be at least 8 characters long and must include at least three of the following four character types: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numeric digits, special characters/punctuation (e.g. !, @, #, etc.).

For example, an employee born January 1970 and having an SSN of 123-45-6789 would have a default password of Jan8927! because 1970 + 123 + 45 + 6789 = 8927. If there is no birthdate on record, January 1970 is assumed. If there is no SSN on record, 000-00-0000 is assumed. Users having difficulty may wish to try other combinations assuming no birthdate and/or SSN on record. We have provided a default password calculator here for your convenience.
