Student Services

Student Support Services is a federally funded TRIO program designed to assist qualifying students with a wide range of academic and support services.  The program provides opportunities for academic development, assists students with basic college requirements, and serves to motivate students toward successful completion of their education.  The goal of Student Support Services is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and help students make the transition from one level of higher education to the next.  Low-income students, first generation college students, and students with disabilities evidencing academic need are eligible to participate in Student Support Services.

Through Student Support Services, the student’s regular program of study can be enriched by:

  • Assistance with educational planning
  • Access to computer technology
  • Tutorial assistance
  • Study skills and personal development workshops and resources
  • Cultural enrichment activities
  • College campus visits
  • Financial aid and scholarship information
  • Personal, academic and career counseling and referrals
  • Loaner program for educational assistance tools
  • Transfer assistance
  • Leadership development

These services are available at no cost to students who are accepted by the College and meet the eligibility requirements established by the U. S. Department of Education. Additional information and a program application may be obtained from the Department of Student Support Services in the Learning Resources Center (Building 5).  For more information contact Dorothy Jordan, Director or Lucy Lawrence Office Manager, at 252-940-6289.
