Beaufort County Community College (Beaufort CCC) continues to strengthen pathways between students and the healthcare industry. On December 17, the college celebrated students who earned certifications in the Nurse Aide I, Nurse Aide II, Phlebotomy, Cardiac Monitor/EKG Technician, Central Sterile Processing Technician, Medical Assitant, and Pharmacy Technician programs during the fall semester. In total, 113 short-term healthcare certifications were awarded.
Registration fees for these programs are covered for qualifying students through the Beaufort Promise Scholarship.
Graduates of the Nurse Aide programs are trained to provide personal care and basic nursing skills, particularly for elderly patients. Phlebotomy students are skilled in blood collection techniques, while pharmacy technicians assist in preparing prescriptions. Medical Assistant students are trained for both clinical and administrative roles, and Central Sterile Processing students learn to manage medical equipment in a hospital setting.
The following students earned the Nurse Aide I certification: Taylor Arons, Ravin Barrow, Lashika Basnight, Hannah Bragg, Aquichia Brown, Jamia Butler, Keila Cabrera, Katelyn Corbett, Serena Dickinson, Hailey Eldridge, Yamilet Martinez Franquez, Candy Vega Gastelum, Abigail Lugo Gonzalez, Jahshawn Harris, Carlos Garcia-Hernandez, Hannah Hudson, Jayla Jennette, Gabriella Jordon, Mariela Santos-Juarez, London Keech, Deborah Lopez, Kaylee Medrano, Elizabeth Mendoza, Gray Mercado, Hannah Perry, Jaslyn Pippins, Kelli Robinson, Addie Rouse, Heidi Sanchez, Ambra Smallwood, Haley Stepps, Gavin Story, Kara Strickland, Emily Quesnel, Latisha Wiggins, and Marie Windley.
The Nurse Aide II certification was awarded to Katie Clark, Sabrina Corprew, Genesis Castro Gallegos, Sydney Keech, Arlana Norfleet, Kamoni Patterson, Alondra Villela Reyes, Victoria Scott, Sydney Starr, Laura Suggs, and Odalys Ramirez-Trejo.
Phlebotomy graduates include Kaitlin Adams, Alana Ahearn, Madison Alkanowski, Sade Alston, Cheryl Boone, Annabella Botta, Frankie Coggins, Natondra Edwards, Kocia Grantham, Char’le Guy, Tonya Hester, Sequoia Lewis, Fabiola Mendoza, Hailey Stroud, Darius William, and Stacey Williams.
Students who completed the Cardiac Monitor and EKG Technician program are Makayla Buckalew, Kylee Feld, Karla Fulcher, and Haley Newell, in addition to students from the Medical Assistant program.
Central Sterile Processing graduates include Emili Alvarez, Neil Bailey, Tiana Lewis, Jada Marrow, Giselle Ramirez Lopez, and Desire Slade.
Graduates of the Medical Assistant program are Sarah Alligood, Shameka Blount, Zola Castillo, Ashlie Galland, Kaylee Haddock, Mursalh Hassan, Deonya Holiday, Aaliyah Howard, Shayquaja Waldon Jones, Dianna Moore, Justice Moore, Erika Mora, Adrianna Outlaw, Brittany Pepple, Ana Swindell, Kanecha Whitfield, Quineisha Williams, Janice Cooper-Windley, and Kieona Worsley.
As part of the Medical Assistant program, Sarah Alligood, Zola Castillo, Ashlie Galland, Kaylee Haddock, Mursalh Hassan, Deonya Holiday, Aaliyah Howard, Dianna Moore, Justice Moore, Erika Mora, Adrianna Outlaw, Brittany Pepple, Ana Swindell, Kanecha Whitfield, Quineisha Williams, and Kieona Worsley also earned their Cardiac Monitor/EKG Technician certification.

Beaufort County Community College will offer a Mental Health Technician course beginning January 21. The online course meets from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays and is designed for individuals seeking certification as a Mental Health Technician. A current Nurse Aide listing may be required for some positions.
Mental Health Technicians play a critical role in the mental health care system by providing direct support, understanding mental health conditions, and applying intervention strategies. The curriculum builds the knowledge and skills needed to deliver safe, therapeutic care to individuals with mental health and behavioral challenges. Students who successfully complete the course will be prepared for Level I AAPT certification and for entry-level employment in hospitals and specialized mental health facilities. Employment opportunities include psychiatric aide, healthcare technician, mental health technician, and psychiatric technician.
Students who complete these short-term training programs may choose to advance into further studies, including Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, or additional nurse aide training. These programs can also serve as prerequisites for associate degree programs in Medical Laboratory Technology, Practical Nursing, or Associate Degree Nursing.
