The program encourages students to:

  • Investigate the world beyond their immediate environment, framing significant problems and conducting well-crafted and age-appropriate research
  • Recognize perspectives, others’ and their own, articulating and explaining such perspectives thoughtfully and respectfully
  • Communicate ideas effectively with diverse audiences, bridging geographic, linguistic, ideological, and cultural barriers
  • Reflect critically on their role as a member of the global community and pursue ways to create positive change
  1. Complete at least 15 credit hours of courses from this list: globally-intensive coursework.
  2. Participate in eight international activities and dialogues. UNC World View offers several opportunities during the academic year that would allow students to complete this requirement, and many of those offerings are web-based, so no travel is necessary.
  3. Complete 30-hours in study abroad or a domestic intercultural experience. BCCC already has a study abroad program in place with international travel that would meet this requirement. Additionally, UNC World View offers domestic opportunities during the academic year for students who cannot travel internationally.
  4. Complete a capstone presentation related to the global learning experiences. The capstone will be a 10 to 15 minute presentation on the student’s experience as a Scholar of Global Distinction.
