Student Publications

Here at Beaufort County Community College, students are encouraged to share their writing and are given the opportunity to showcase their work in one of our two in-house student publications. Students studying culture in the humanities contribute to the College’s long-standing magazine each year as a part of their coursework whereas students in ENG-125: Creative Writing and students who practice creative writing independently are invited to submit work to the campus literary journal. Both the magazine and the journal are published online annually.

Life on the Pamlico

Under title write: “Since 1981, Life on the Pamlico has been the College’s premiere student publication. The magazine is focused on local stories and histories, with a goal to preserve oral traditions and unique cultural perspectives. Students enrolled in HUM-120: Cultural Studies contribute writing, artwork, and photography to this publication. Students also create videos supplement their stories, which are posted in conjunction with the printed text.

The Gully Review

The Gully Review is the College’s literary journal, sponsored by the Write On! Creative Writing Club and the College English Department. The journal is open to all BCCC students. Each year, Write On! announces calls for students to submit poetry or short prose for the journal. These writings go through a selection and revision process before final publication. Each student who has work published in The Gully Review is recognized by the Write On! club at the end of the school year for their contributions.
