Bayliss Boatworks will visited Beaufort County Community College on Wednesday, Sept. 2 to meet with students in the college’s Boat Manufacture & Service program and kick off a new partnership between the manufacturer and the college.
The Bayliss team brought a completed 21-foot center console boat that serves as a replica of the vessel students will build as part of the program. The visit gave students the chance to see a finished product, learn about the boatbuilding industry and available career opportunities, hear from Bayliss Boatworks representatives, and ask questions.
A New Agreement Begins This Fall
The visit came as Bayliss Boatworks and the Boat Manufacture & Service program begin a new agreement this fall. Bayliss designed the 21-foot center console for the program to build and will fund all materials for the project. Because Bayliss is funding the build and owns the design, the company will take ownership of the completed boat at the end of the school year.
The program’s curriculum will remain unchanged, with a goal of completing the build within a one-year time frame.
