Beaufort County Community College (Beaufort CCC) and Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C., have signed a direct transfer agreement that creates a clear pathway for students earning an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Business Administration at Beaufort CCC to continue into the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (B.A.A.S.) in Business Administration program at Lees-McRae.

Through this agreement, Beaufort CCC graduates with an A.A.S. in Business Administration will enter Lees-McRae with junior class status and more than 60 credit hours applied toward the bachelor’s degree. Students will receive the benefits of junior standing, including eligibility for financial aid, academic honors, student activities, and development services.

The Lees-McRae B.A.A.S. in Business Administration is offered entirely online, providing a flexible and affordable option for working professionals and recent graduates. Students transferring under this agreement also receive a $30 per credit hour tuition discount, reducing the total cost to complete a four-year degree.

“This agreement provides our business administration students with an affordable, seamless path to continue their education online while maintaining work and family commitments,” said Cynthia King, lead instructor for business administration at Beaufort CCC. “It strengthens our mission of preparing students not just for today’s jobs, but for leadership roles in tomorrow’s workforce.”

Lees-McRae will accept academic credits earned at Beaufort CCC with grades of C or higher at face value. Students entering with the A.A.S. degree may transfer up to 12 credit hours of coursework completed with a D grade, provided other graduation requirements are met.

By starting at Beaufort CCC with support from the Beaufort Promise Scholarship, students can lower the cost of their education before finishing their bachelor’s degree online through Lees-McRae. Both institutions view this partnership as a way to expand access to higher education and meet workforce needs in eastern North Carolina and beyond.
