Beaufort County Community College, Beaufort CCC, and Beaufort County Early College High School will host a FAFSA Completion Event on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m., to help students and families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid for the 2026–27 academic year.
The event will take place at the Boyette Conference Center, Building 10, on Beaufort CCC’s main campus, located at 5337 U.S. 264 in Washington. Financial aid professionals and admissions staff will be available to provide one on one assistance with completing the FAFSA and the North Carolina Residency Determination (RDS) process. RDS is required to get in-state tuition at any NC public college or university.
Volunteers from AMEXCAN and the College Foundation of North Carolina will participate to assist with Spanish interpretation and FAFSA completion. High school students graduating in 2026 are encouraged to attend, regardless of their college or university plans.
Completing the FAFSA is a critical step in determining eligibility for federal, state, and institutional financial aid, including grants, scholarships, and work study opportunities. Completing the application early helps students maximize available aid and better understand their financial options.
“Students and families often have questions that go beyond just the FAFSA,” said Tricia Windley, director of financial aid at Beaufort CCC. “By offering help with residency determination and the FAFSA at the same time, we are creating a single stop where students can take care of multiple steps in one visit. Applying early also helps families see the full range of financial aid possibilities and plan with confidence.”
Students planning to attend should bring:
- Social Security numbers for students and parents if applicable
- 2024 tax returns
- W-2s or other proof of income
- A valid email address for both students and parents
- Participants are encouraged to bring a computer or tablet if available.
- Applicants under 18 must be accompanied by at least one parent or guardian.
