Nurse aide & pharm tech classes starting in August

Beaufort County Community College’s is offering short-term healthcare training for careers such as nurse aide and pharmacy technician. In light of the COVID-19 epidemic, front-line positions such as these are in high demand. Workers in these fields are key saving lives and helping contain this pandemic. Nurse Aide I-Hybrid

This certificate course consists of theory, lab and clinical experiences, which prepares the student to provide personal care and basic nursing skills. Course content includes but is not limited to: role of the nurse aide, infection control, communication, and resident’s rights. Upon satisfactory completion of course, student is eligible to apply for the North Carolina State Certification Examination. Successful completion of state exam is required to be listed on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry. Blackboard is the technology platform used for online instruction with Blackboard Ultra or ZOOM used for meeting sessions. A Career Readiness Certificate of a silver or higher is a required. Students should consult Fall 2020 Course Schedule for additional costs and requirements. Classes will meet from 1:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. every Monday and Tuesday from August 17-November 30. Other course work will take place online. This class costs $204.25. Funding assistance may be available through NC Works. Interested persons must apply to the NC Works office in their home county.

Nurse Aide I

This certificate course consists of theory, lab and clinical experiences, which prepares the student to provide personal care and basic nursing skills. Students should consult Fall 2020 Course Schedule for additional costs and requirements. This class will meet from 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Fridays and every other Saturday from August 21-December 11. The class costs $199.25 Funding assistance may be available through NC Works. Interested persons must apply to the NC Works office in their home county.

Pharmacy Technician-Hybrid

This course is designed to prepare the student through classroom instruction to enter the pharmacy field as a Pharmacy Technician I. Core course concept is basic training in pharmacy and pharmacology. Student will complete 10 hours of shadowing at an assigned pharmacy during pharmacy hours.

Upon satisfactory completion of the course, the student is encouraged to apply for certification with Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Exam. Blackboard is the technology platform used for online instruction with Blackboard Ultra or ZOOM used for meeting sessions.

A Career Readiness Certificate of a bronze or higher is required. Copy of certificate is due at time of registration along with an official copy of a High School diploma or High School Equivalency. Students should consult Fall 2020 Course Schedule for additional costs and requirements. This $199.25 class will meet 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. every Monday from August 31-November 23. Other course work will take place online. Funding assistance may be available through NC Works. Interested persons must apply to the NC Works office in their home county.

Nurse Aide II

This course consists of theory, lab and clinical experiences, which prepares the student to provide complex nursing skills for patients or residents. Upon satisfactory completion of course, student is eligible for listing as a NA II with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. A Nurse Aide I license and High School Diploma or equivalency is required to take this class. Students should consult Fall 2020 Course Schedule for additional costs and requirements. This $199.25 class will take place from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday from September 1-December 10. Clincals will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Funding assistance may be available through NC Works. Interested persons must apply to the NC Works office in their home county.
