Community Voices Presentation on Spain Rescheduled for Nov. 15
The Louise R. Lester Foundation Library at Beaufort County Community College will host Spanish professor Ana Jimenez-Leary on November 15 as part of its Community Voices program. This event was originally scheduled for November 9. Jimenez-Leary will give an overview of Spain’s geography, culture, and history using audiovisuals, music, and traditional objects. This presentation is part of the Beaufort Abroad: Crossing Boundaries, Expanding Community series. The presentation taking place from 6:00-7:00 p.m., and participants can try Spanish foods including Spanish olives, tortilla, and chocolate.
Jimenez-Leary was born in Segovia, Spain, and raised in Germany when her parents emigrated. She graduated from Georg-August Universität and taught English and Spanish for two years in Germany before emigrating to the United States. She has taught English as a second language in public schools and has taught Spanish at Beaufort CCC since 2022.
The Community Voices Series serves as a bridge connecting the Community College with the community at large to build engagement and interaction between businesses and individuals by offering exposure to the library and campus faculty and staff. The Beaufort Abroad series will feature BCCC employees’ global travels in connection with the Study Abroad program which will visit Austria, Germany, and Switzerland in 2024.
