The Beaufort County Community College Foundation has received a $10,000 donation from ECU Health Beaufort Hospital to establish the ECU Health Beaufort Hospital Endowment and to continue the ECU Health Beaufort Hospital Scholarships. The endowment will provide ongoing support for students pursuing education in a wide range of health care programs at Beaufort County Community College.

The new endowment, created with an initial investment of $5,000 and a matching contribution for scholarships, will ensure that local students have access to educational opportunities leading to vital health care careers. Scholarships funded through this endowment may be awarded to qualified students in both curriculum and continuing education programs.

Eligible programs include nursing, medical laboratory technology, nurse aide, phlebotomy, cardiovascular technology, central sterile processing technology, electronic health records specialist, medical billing and coding, pharmacy technician, registered medical assistant, emergency medical technician (EMT), advanced emergency medical technician (AEMT), surgical technology, and community paramedicine, along with other medically related programs approved by the donor.

At ECU Health, we believe investing in education is investing in the future of health care,” said Dr. Dennis Campbell, president of ECU Health Beaufort Hospital and a member of the Beaufort County Community College Board of Trustees. “This endowment reflects our commitment to developing a strong pipeline of skilled health care professionals who will serve eastern North Carolina with excellence and compassion for years to come.”

“ECU Health Beaufort Hospital has been a steadfast partner in supporting health care education in our region,” said Dr. David Loope, president of Beaufort CCC. “Their continued investment ensures that our students have the resources and training needed to meet the growing demand for skilled health care professionals in eastern North Carolina.”

The ECU Health Beaufort Hospital Endowment represents a continuing partnership between Beaufort CCC and ECU Health to strengthen the region’s health care workforce and support students who choose to serve their communities through health professions.
