Beaufort County Community College recognized its top-performing students on April 28, celebrating 150 honor students across academic programs who maintained a GPA of 3.5 or higher. The ceremony also featured the presentation of the Academic Excellence Award to Mackenzie Conaway, as well as recognition for the college’s Student Government Association officers and college ambassadors.
Mackenzie Conaway received the college’s most prestigious honor, the Academic Excellence Award, presented by Dr. Lisa Hill, executive vice president of instruction & workforce development. Conaway is active in multiple organizations, including serving as the Student Government Association president.
“What makes her especially deserving of this award is not only her academic achievement, but also her attitude toward learning,” said Hill. “Those who have taught her describe her as thoughtful, driven and genuinely curious, a student who does not simply aim to succeed, but to truly learn and grow. She brings depth, insight and a positive spirit to everything she does, lifting those around her in the process.”

These students will participate in Beaufort County Community College’s commencement ceremony on May 7. The college congratulates them on their dedication and academic achievement.
