MyPlate by the U.S. Department of Agriculture is a visual reminder to make healthy choices from each of the five groups. MyPlate.gov offers tips and resources that support healthy dietary patterns.

Food Insecurity

According to NCDHHS, in NC alone, food insecurity affects almost 11% of the population. That would translate to the entire combined populations of Raleigh, Greensboro, Durham and Winston-Salem. But food insecurity affects large and small communities alike.

There are resources available if you or someone you know is experiencing food insecurity; a few of which are listed below. Please note, these agencies may have eligibility requirements to be met.

Food Bank of the Albemarle – Serving Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Hyde, Martin, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell and Washington Counties. The Salvation Army is a part of the Food Bank of the Albemarle network.

FBA Mobile Food Pantries
