Beaufort CCC Celebrates Women's History Month with Panel Presentation

In honor of Women's History Month, Beaufort County Community College hosted a panel presentation on March 14. The event featured a lineup of influential women from diverse backgrounds in public education, including community college vice president Keisha Jones, ESL teacher Janet Sueiro Rodman, and school principal Dr. Patricia Horton Albritton, whose remarkable journeys have made a profound impact on their communities and beyond. Jahmar Bradby, Beaufort CCC’s Men of Success coach, served as moderator for the panel.

Keisha Jones, a trailblazer in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), brings over 19 years of comprehensive experience across higher education, workforce development, and leadership. She serves as the vice president of student affairs and chief diversity officer at Davidson-Davie Community College, and the director of equity at the NC Student Success Center.

Janet Sueiro Rodman, born in New York City to Puerto Rican parents, dedicated her career to fostering support for the growing Latino community in Beaufort County. With a background in education and community outreach, Sueiro Rodman played a vital role in ensuring the successful integration of this population into the broader community.

Dr. Patricia Horton Albritton's journey is one of resilience and determination. Overcoming significant challenges as a teen mother, she pursued her education while raising her son. Dr. Horton Albritton held various leadership positions in education, culminating in her role as the principal of Snowden Elementary School in Aurora, N.C.

"The dedication of these women to our youth exemplifies the transformative power of education," said Jahmar Bradby. "They not only overcame structural hurdles through their own careers, but they have also helped the next generation to overcome their own hurdles."

The event was a celebration of the accomplishments and contributions of these remarkable women leaders while navigating barriers of around both race and gender, as they shared their insights and experiences in shaping a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
