American Sign Language-Beginner (offered online and face-to-face)
This course is a beginner version of the fundamental elements of American Sign Language within a cultural context. Emphasis is placed on basic vocabulary, grammar, expressive practice to develop everyday conversational skills in ASL. Students of ASL can expect to acquire many insights, not only universal aspects common to all languages, but also specific information that is sound in studying ASL and learning about its community of users.

American Sign Language-Advanced
This 21 hour class is for advanced students to broaden signing skills, develop vocabulary, conversational competence and grammatical knowledge through a total immersion approach that includes classroom conversation, visual language lab activities and weekly exercises. You will expand your interaction with the local Deaf community to enhance your linguistic skills and cultural knowledge. A textbook is required and can be purchased from the BCCC Bookstore, Talking with Your Hands and Listening with Your Eyes, ISBN 075700007X.

American Conversational French
This course introduces the fundamental elements of the French language within a cultural context. Emphasis is placed on the development of BASIC listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Basic vocabulary and grammar will be introduced and practiced using a communicative approach. Upon completion, students should be able to comprehend and respond in basic everyday situations and should demonstrate cultural awareness.

Conversational Spanish
This class provides an introduction to understanding, speaking, reading, and writing Spanish. Emphasis is placed on pronunciation, parts of speech, communicative
phrases, culture, and skills for language acquisition. Upon completion, students should be able to identify and apply basic grammar concepts, display cultural awareness, and communicate simple Spanish phrases.
